Preserving the Living Heritage of Sacred Trees
Across Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Jammu, Kashmir, and Pakistan, ancient trees stand as silent witnesses to centuries of spiritual practice and cultural identity. Many historic gurudwaras, temples, and shrines are named directly after the trees that shelter them — Gurudwara Amb Sahib (Mango), Gurudwara Tahli Sahib (Shisham), Gurudwara Ber Sahib (Jujube).
The Kesu Environment Foundation maps these trees, archives their spiritual origin stories and elder folklore, and drives real-world conservation through native nurseries, community forests, and invasive species removal.
